I received this email today from a reader searching for what this planner could possibly be. Unfortunately I don't know of anything that fits her description (although I know of similar things like Filofax Flex etc.). Can you help?
After hours of trawling the internet I wonder if you, or your readers might be able to help me track down a planner.
On
a recent train journey the lady opposite me had the most beautiful
bright red A5 diary planner. It was a mock (I think!) alligator style
leather and was refillable on both sides. She had a diary on one side
and notebook on the other. I managed to glimpse the name and it was
Papillote or a variation thereof. I have googled and googled until I am
blue in the face and still haven’t found it and wondered if somebody
else might know who the company is. It’s not the Czech Papelote, I’ve
tried them!
I wish I knew what this planner was because it sounds really nice! If you know what this planner could possibly be, please post a comment!
Tracy commented on FB: You know I'm wondering if it is a French or canadian brand? Either current brand or vintage brand - if it's vintage that may be hampering the search -The word she used means parchment and is a cooking term meaning cooking in a parchment / paper package. If you think about it the notebook is like the parchment wrap -- in this case around someones life instead of a piece of fish. I couldnt find anything myself but googling from the US can be limiting. There is a canadian company with that name and looking at their site it looks like there is an agenda category but nothing comes up If I were her I'd do an ebay search worldwide and make it a saved search so if anything comes up it there will be an email generated - most will be cooking things including a magazine named that - It also could have be something made for that magazine? Anyway - those are my thoughts... I might be off on this, might have nothing to do with the french term but it's sort of poetic...
ReplyDeleteThis might be the company Tracy found: https://www.papillote.ca/fr/shop/81
ReplyDeleteI've tried them. I did wonder if it was them. But if so they don't sell anything under papeterie any longer :(
ReplyDeleteAnd yes, the cooking terminology does hamper the google search! I've worked my way through most of the francophone countries and as a French speaker I think there is a fairly good chance I didn't miss much. I suspect it may have been a one off. If it was vintage she had kept hers in tip top condition. Off to work my way through ebay now... Thank you :)

ReplyDeleteWas it possibly a journal from TT Patton? http://ttpatton.com/journals/
ReplyDeleteAlso, have you tried googling "red alligator planner" and then clicked on "images" to see if you can recognize a picture of it?
Ooh wow gorgeous stuff on that website!

Thank you taylormade. Lovely though the TT Patton ones are it's not there. This one didn't look like a filofax, had no clasp and looked to all intents and purposes just like a notebook. I've been looking at images for a couple of days now. I think I have learned my lesson and next time I shall be brave and just ask where it came from!
ReplyDeleteyou wouldn't try the red Lizard Filofax Flex, would you? That holds one book on each side and you can make it a calendar and a notebook if you like?
