New poll: Do you write in your planner in cursive or print?

Mstraat had the great idea to do this poll to find out if people mostly write in their planner in cursive or print.

I thought this was especially timely since many schools in the US no longer teach cursive writing so they can spend their time on "more important" things. Is handwriting soon to be a lost art?

So, do you write in cursive for speed, or because you have beautiful handwriting? Or do you print for tidiness and legibility?

Please vote in the poll at the side!

  2. I never thought about this but I write nearly everything in cursive. But I only print in my planner. I'm pretty consistent. Every once in a while, I put in cursive for emphasis.

  3. I generally print but as I was "trained" to write in cursive I still slip into it from time to time.

  4. I use a mix. Cursive is usually my default. It's what I used in college for most of my note taking, with print for emphasis. I also do nearly all my journaling in cursive.

    1. I should add - I was homeschooled until 10th grade, so I was taught cursive and I am oh so glad I was. I like my handwriting!

    2. you are kidding, right? American schools do not teach kids to WRITE????????
I'm going to need some time to recover from that one!

    3. Cursive is no longer required as a taught subject in elementary schools in the US, and some states have chosen to drop it to use that time to teach keyboarding instead:

  5. Absolutely print - if I did cursive, nothing would fit - unless everything was abbreviated! I usually try to use smaller planners so I can carry them with me, which means the line heights just too narrow (for me, anyway). Also, even printing, I have to use a really fine pen tip, as well.

  6. I use a mixture of both, depending on what it is. I've got fairly neat handwriting, but got into the habit of writing in print for work. When I used to have my diary in my filo, I would normal print because it was more tidy.

  8. I'm a lefty who was taught how to write cursive by all right-handed people. Needless to say, it's hideous and looks the same as when I was in third grade. I always write in print and now I think my handwriting is pretty. :)

  9. Like Josh, I was 'trained' to write in cursive. However, I now mainly print and have done so for many years. I worked in 'law enforcement', and was too often bemused and confused by written reports that I struggled to understand due to the illegibility of the handwriting. Printing was always the safe option!

    1. I worked for an architect for a while, so developed the skill of block letter printing, which has proved hard to shake!

  10. I write almost exclusively in cursive (only printing occasionally, for emphasis). I'm so surprised at the results of your poll (only 17% of respondents have picked "cursive" atm)! For me, cursive is much quicker and looks better.
